The Knight is a critique of triggered responses to black and white. The concept is a study of how we perceive colors/shades and where our triggers are rooted. The sneaker takes a pure material (white python), and couples it with a broken sole (the red painted sole– singularly represents imperfection and consequence). Compositionally, the materials were selected for their opulent and regal appearance. The qualities are intended to depict conflict between nobility and defection which is how polarizing the shade White is perceived.
White is often the shade of regalness. Our skin, a pristine marble lobby, a white-colored gown, all fundamentally prompt a response. Why is black associated with terror? The Knight challenges these associations, urging us to recognize the potential beauty or ugliness in every hour of the day.
